Are Hot Air Hand Dryers Spreading Germs?

This subject came up on Snopes this morning, and while there’s no conclusive answer, it is worth thinking about.

Read the Snopes article.

One thing the article didn’t mention that is also worth thinking about: The door knob or push bar on public rest rooms.

If a person doesn’t bother to wash their hands – and as you’ll see in the article, many do not – then that door has to be one of the most germ-laden places you’ll ever encounter.

Some folks I know dry their hands with a paper towel and then use the towel to open the door. Others give it a shove with an elbow.

What do YOU do to keep from contaminating your freshly washed hands?
