Another Cure for Migraines
This week’s doctor’s column in the newspaper offered a migraine headache

Headache pain
therapy I’d never heard of – steam.
A woman wrote in to say she’d had a migraine so bad that it landed her in the emergency room. The doctor there advised her to start steam therapy and that in about a month her headaches should back off.
It takes time, but if you suffer from these awful headaches, you know that being disabled from them takes even more time.
The treatment is to put a pot of water on the stove and get it steaming. Then put a towel over your head to contain the steam and breathe deeply for a minute or two. The article said that 12 deep breaths at a time would be effective. Do this 3 or 4 times each day until the headaches stop. Then you can do it only once or twice a day – or if you feel a migraine approaching.
The lady reported that it did indeed take about a month before the treatment began to work. She also attributes this therapy with giving her back good quality of life.
